Dr. Vauthey is Board Certified in Surgery with his major interest being in hepatic, pancreatic and biliary surgery.
Dr. J. Nicolas Vauthey received his medical degree from Lausanne University Medical School in Switzerland. He completed a surgical residency at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans followed by a fellowship in hepatobiliary surgery at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and a surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
He then held the position of Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Florida and Staff Surgeon at the Gainesville Veterans Administration Medical Center. Currently, he is Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Liver Service, Department of Surgical Oncology, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Dr. Vauthey's practice focuses on hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary malignancies. He is the principal investigator of several original protocols designed for treating primary and secondary hepatic malignancies. Dr. Vauthey is the author/co–author of over 115 publications, 18 book chapters and has presented or moderated numerous presentations at national and international meetings.
